Bookify Privacy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

Bookify is a Chrome extension that displays an article or text-based PDF you choose to open as a book. It extracts and displays article text and PDF content inside your browser. Bookify does not send article or PDF contents to its license service. A PDF from a website is fetched directly from that website; you can also choose a local PDF file.

Information stored on your device

Chrome storage saves your reading preferences, local device state, a hashed source URL and saved reading position for Premium resume, and a Premium license key you enter. Chrome may sync preferences between your devices if you use Chrome Sync. The hashed URL and reading position stay in local storage. You can remove this data by removing the extension and clearing its extension storage.

PDF website access

If a PDF website blocks direct loading, Bookify may ask you to allow access to that website. This permission is optional and can be managed in your browser's extension settings. Bookify does not upload the PDF to its license service.

Premium license checks

When you enter a license key, Bookify sends that key over HTTPS to the Bookify license service. The service checks the key with Gumroad and returns only whether Premium is active. It does not receive article text. The service uses short-lived, hashed request identifiers in Upstash to limit abuse. The hosting provider may process standard request metadata such as your IP address to deliver the service.

YouTube record player

If you choose to load a YouTube video, Bookify opens a visible YouTube embed. YouTube may receive information about that viewing under its own privacy terms. Bookify does not send the video link to its license service.

License downloads and contact

Gumroad provides license keys through the Bookify product download. Bookify does not collect card details. For Bookify questions or data requests, email aaramace@gmail.com.
